User Testing & Website Usability Approach

Usability testing is the process of researching your Website's functionality with a group of actual site visitors in a lab setting. Your most important Website tasks and processes are identified, and we observe and pinpoint ways to improve your site so that tasks become more intuitive and the process more successful for the site visitor. This leads to a more successful Web experience for the site visitor and improved results for your site.

Usability testing can take place in a PC lab setting with two-way mirrors and other high-tech surveillance equipment and can cost upwards of $25,000. We take a new and creative approach to usability testing. The goal of this approach is to maximize efficiencies, save costs and produce excellent results. Our approach focuses on mobile user testing, which is more flexible and and cost-effective. Mobile user testing can be set-up at much less expense than formal usability testing labs. Each one-hour testing session takes place in a hotel, conference center or at client facilities. Locations are determined in our planning sessions and selected based on the best opportunities to locate and recruit desired test participants.

Our methodology ensures we conduct the most effective testing and gain valuable insights on how visitors use your Website. To accomplish this, we identify the right usability attributes, recruit the appropriate users, conduct incisive moderation during the testing, and follow through with meticulous analysis of the results. All Web sessions will be archived so they can be viewed by an unlimited number of observers following the session.

We meet with your staff in person and assist in the development of the process for the testing including discovery, objectives, methodology, user profile, test attributes, questionnaires and other instruments and build test set ups and a dry run through the test. We can recruit participants form your list of potential testing candidates or develop our own list of users. The groups can include current or prospective customers.

We will secure testing locations, contact participants, schedule the testing, facilitate the testing session, provide access to client observers on-site, archive the testing session, analyze the testing session and provide a summary report. An Intuitive Websites facilitator will monitor, record and view the users progress through each task. The facilitator will also interact in-person with the user.

A video of each session will be provided that shows a screen shot of the users mouse movements for each task and video of the user at the computer. Intuitive Websites can also provide time to completion, quantitative data from a questionnaire, identification of key issues and user path documentation.
